Paper Dolls Challenge # 2

Yay, I am the host of this weeks challenge over at the Paper Dolls blog. I have had this sketch in mind since I knew I was going to host. The sketch comes from Go To Sketches magazine by Betsy Veldman(pg 109). I *heart* Betsy so much, she is my crafting hero, she is simply fabulous! So here is the sketch:

Lots of the new October Afternoon, Fly A Kite paper collection! My new favorite paper and believe it or not I didn't even hoard it! Yay me!

I really love these tissue paper flowers. Poofy, fluffy and fat, love them as embellies and they are so easy to make! Tissue paper is so fun to work with! Added some vintage, sparkly brads to the middle and voila!!

April PTI Blog Hop

Can you believe it's time for another PTI blog hop!? Where does the time go?! This months theme is tissue paper! Yay! I was so excited because I love tissue paper, it's right up my alley. I love fat, fluffy, poofy, tissue paper flowers! So that's what I used as my inspiration and here's what I came up with:

This card is actually doubling for a sketch challenge over at the Paper Dolls blog. I recently became a doll and I am so excited to be part of this very talented group! Thank you Laurie Beth for a great first challenge!

I used mostly new PTI. A little Argyle, I *heart* this set so much! The 2009 anniversary set, simply fabulous! And of course, lots of bling! Who doesn't love lots of bling, am I right?! Ha! I used lots and lots of tissue paper to make the fluffy, poofy flower. Tissue paper is so fun to work with and cheap too! Gotta love that! I used a flower die from Beautiful Blooms II through my cuttlebug to make the flower petals. Easy peasy!

One layer cards

Happy Friday peeps! I am soooo glad this week is over! It has been crazy and I have had no time to get crafty. I did manage about a half hour today to make two very quick cards. Kristina Werner had a challenge on her blog to make a one layer card... well I am sure you know by now that is NOT me, totally not my style! I am a paper, ribbon, buttons kinda girl so this was a real challenge for me. Here is my take on a one layer card:

There isn't much to say about this card. The stamp set is from Lawn Fawn called Sew Lovely. I normally don't use anything but PTI but when I saw this set, I had to have it! So stinkin cute!

This card uses the new Chair-ished set from Lisa Johnson. Oh how I love this set! The sketch is from Clean and Simple Sketch, #86, I tweaked it a little bit to fit this challenge. These cards are really so simple, and very quick to make. Like I said, not my style but thought I would step out of my box a little and give it a try!

Hi peeps, happy Saturday! I have been playing with On My Couch and Additions again. I *heart* this set so much and can not wait to get chair-ished from the newest PTI release! Oh and the couch and chair dies... *swoon*. Hurry up Mr. postman... Anyways, here is my card...

I just recently got a new batch of patterned paper, which I used on this card. While I am waiting to get my argyle stamp set, I thought I would use My Minds Eye paper. Can you believe I didn't hoard it, I can't! Well actually I did buy the new Fly a Kite collection by October Afternoon which I am hoarding! Ha! It's just to fabulous to cut right now.

Let me lighten you load, isn't that such a cute sentiment?! I love it and just had to use it. I popped up the chairs to stand out just a bit more and then added those fab pillows. Easy peasy! The sketch is another one from Go To Sketches magazine (pg83), I didn't follow the sketch to a T, but you get the jist of it!

Oh my goodness... it has been so long since I've posted last. It has been a crazy couple of weeks and then me and my hubby got the stomach bug, yuck! So here I am, back and ready to go! There has been a lot of conversations around blog land and the PTI forum about On My Couch and Additions, it had really inspired me to dust off my set and use it on a card! This, I think, is my most favorite card I have ever made!(Although these pictures don't really do it justice) Here it is:

Don't you just love it?! This sketch is one of Betsy V's from the new Go To Sketches magazine. Love this magazine, it is so super fab!! There are so many great sketches and so much inspiration in this one.

I had forgotten how much I really love this stamp set. It is so adorable and the sentiments are great! Who wouldn't love to get a card with a cute little couch on it??! I know I would! I can't wait to get the follow up set Chair-ish and the new dies to go with the couch and chair set.

I used my most favorite paper collection by Making Memories, I have been hoarding it for a long time but have been slowly making myself use it! Yay! Also added some stitching, one of my favorite touches right now. Popped up the sentiment, easy peasy!

Hi all! Happy Wednesday to you! We're almost to the weekend, yay! Another card to share with you today. This one I CASEd from the very talented Maile Belles, I love her sweet and simple style. This is her card(scroll down past the magazine) and this is mine:

Don't you just love the buttons stamped on the inside of that butterfly?! I don't have the butterfly die from PTI so I used my cricut and the Sentimentals cartridge to cut him out. And actually I didn't really think I was a "butterfly" person until I saw Mailes card.

Of course I had to use Raspberry Fizz and Aqua Mist oh and Kraft too which I rarely use. I really love those medium sized scallops, can't get enough of them. Thank you Maile for your inspiration, I am really loving your style lately!

Hi peeps! Happy Saturday and Happy Easter tomorrow! I finally got a chance to play around with Scrapbook Mini Series today. Well let me tell you, I love it! Everything about it is great, the words and phrases, the numbers, the tabs and even the die is fab! I am super glad I bought this series. I can't wait to see what else Pine has up her sleeve.

I didn't really have anything planned to scrapbook so I decided to use this set on a card and use the tabs as scallops. I really got the inspiration here from Melissa Phillips. When I saw what she did with these tabs I thought I had died and went to heaven. Oh my goodness I just loved what she did! So that's where I pulled my inspiration from.

Yup, those flowers are from Beautiful Blooms II. Love that set but I have to practice lining up the die cut with the stamp. Practice makes perfect they say. Lots of glitter on this one, which is unusual for me, but was pretty easy with a glue pad.

Tomorrow is a New Day

Happy Wednesday to you peeps! I have another card to share with you today. I had actually made this card for the PTI blog hop but then decided to do something totally different. I've been trying out different color combos lately, trying to get away from my "go to" colors. This one uses Smokey Shadow.

Notice that patterned paper, the collection is from K &CO and well, I have been hoarding it for a long time, a long, long time. The whole collection was just to beautiful to cut into... but I had to do it. Use it or lose it is my new motto!

You already know that I love Wonderfully Whimsical, especially the tree and you know I love to add buttons to that tree! Such a sweet touch. Tomorrow is a new day is from Blooming Button Bits. Love those sentiment!

Hawaiian Shores again

Hi-ya peeps! Happy Sunday to you. Yes, I am using my signature colors again... but in my defense this is a really cute card! Ha! I was playing around a few days ago, before the blog hop, trying to decide what I was going to do with buttons and came up with this card. I ended up not using it (obviously) but I really liked it!

I seem to be using Wonderfully Whimsical a lot and my other new stamps are getting neglected. But I love this tree and I love to add buttons to it. Love that look! I hope you're not sick of it yet because I have one more card to share that has the same concept, another one I made for the hop and didn't use. I promise after that I am done. :)

March Blog Hop

Hi-ya peeps! It's hard to believe that another month has gone by and it's time for another PTI blog hop. This months challenge is to explore the possibilities of buttons. Who doesn't love buttons, am I right?!? I just had to participate in this challenge, and here is my take, lots of button goodness!

It seems I have been using the same color combo a lot lately (and I mean a lot), Rasp Fizz, Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores. Sort of been stuck in a rut. So I decided to break out and go much more soft and dramatic on this card. I love the vintage look and that's kinda what I was going for here.

I have a new found love, It's A Celebration stamp set! I just adore the banner images in this set, so sweet! I stamped the banner in Sweet Blush, Spring Moss and Smokey Shadow inks. I used the Tea Dye Duo to antique it up a bit. Added some ribbon and lace and since the theme is buttons I added some buttons to the banner, who doesn't love all those goodies. Yum! Oh and can't forget the bling.

Wonderfully Whimsical

I am so in love with this new stamp set from Papertrey. Wonderfully Whimsical...*sigh*... what can I say, I love it! I especially love the tree image. Trees are so in right now aren't they?!

This is my favorite card that I have made lately. I just love that tree, and all those buttons, fab! Did you notice that little birdie... isn't he so cute?!

I used the new Hawaiian Shores color collection. One of my new faves right now. It goes great with Raspberry Fizz which you already know I love. Also used white which I rarely use as a card base. And that sentiment, Everyday Button Bits.

PTI Goodies

Is that not the yummiest, most fabulous sight you have ever seen?!? My Papertrey goodies came today! Yay! I just had to take a picture of this beautiful batch of goodness. Lots and lots of stuff here and just look at those dies!

I also stopped at the dollar store today, I Picked up these scarfs to play around with. I was really inspired by Betsy V and her flower tutorial using fabric and the new dies. For only $1, I thought I would try my hand at it and these prints are super fab! I also bought tissue paper to try!

Happy St. Patricks Day

I sent this card to one of my Papertrey peeps for our St. Patty's day card swap. I didn't really have anything for the occasion so I improvised using a large and small heart punch. Obviously some green paper and the Storybook cartridge for the letters.

I then thought it would be fun to send some goodies along with the card! I decided to make up some of my own embellies and package them up pretty. I love, love, love Everyday Button Bits so I started with that and then used Take Note, another fave. I also made some different kinds of flowers and then some butterflies.

I used the largest hinged tin from Papertrey, dressed it up a bit and slipped in the embellishments. Hope you liked it Kim. I had lots of fun making these!

Easter Wishes

I played along with Ted's challenge on his blog today. The challenge was to make a project that has to do with Easter and also incorporates the word CRAFT. Here's my take:

C: Cardstock (Kraft)
R: Raspberry Fizz ribbon, buttons, cardstock
A: Aqua Mist buttons, cardstock
F: Flowers
T: Tag (Easter Wishes tag)

I just love the way this card turned out! Isn't that bow super fab?! I love the saddle stitch ribbon, to die for! I also used Blooming Button Bits and Baby Button Bits. I love the button bits collections. I use them all the time. They really can be used for any occasions.

I hardly ever use Kraft cardstock but I do love the way this color combo turned out. I also used the medium scallop from last months release. The size of this scallop, just perfect!

Clean and Simple

Hi-ya peeps! It seems like there has been a lot of chatter lately about clean and simple (CAS) style cards. CAS is not really my style, I like ribbons and buttons and layers and pattern paper. I thought I would take on this challenge so here is what I came up with:

Very clean and very simple! I did however try my hand at making my own embellishments. I really love how they came out! The butterflies were cut out with my cricut and the Sentimentals cartridge. I then stamped them with various background stamps. Aren't they just fab!?

I do like the way this card turned out. The colors are fabulous! Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist and white. *sigh* Seems like a lot of my cards lately have been this color combo. Cant get enough of them!

Wish upon a...

I am really hooked on Color Couture these days and I am loving the color combos in the collection. This combo is my fave so far... Aqua Mist, Raspberry Fizz, Chocolate and Vintage Cream. Can't get enough!

I made this card super jumbo... 6x6. I will never be able to mail it to anyone unless I have a special envelope, duh. Oh well, I like the way it turned out but would probably never make this size again. I am going to make a replica in an A2 size.

I actually got the sketch from the Wishes card book from CTMH. I got the book a long time ago and since finding PTI have never really used it. It is however a good resource if you're looking for inspiration or just a simple sketch.

Star prints has always been one of my favorite stamp sets by PTI. I would recommend it to anyone. The sentiments are great, the font is fabulous and there are so many stars to choose from. With all my new sets I haven't really inked this one up in a while so here it is...

Happy Day

Happy Saturday! It's been a few days since I've been able to update the old blog-o! Sometimes life just gets in the way of your best intentions.

For this card I used some inspiration from the pages of the Color Couture Collection. I love using Aqua Mist, Raspberry Fizz and white together. Can't get enough of it!

Notice those sweet little die cuts, they are also from the Color Couture Collection. I inked up the edges, and stamped on the sentiment "you make me smile" from Signature Greetings.

I wasn't sure how I was going to like using these die cuts because I have so many that I don't use already... but I added some inking, used some punches, ribbon, buttons and viola! An easy way to put a card together.

So Sweet of You

Aren't these lovelies so pretty and colorful?!?!? I just love them. However, they are not 100% my idea... I CASED them from the fabulous Dawn McVey. You can find her card here in the PTI gallery. I was looking for some inspiration, trying to find something to get my juices flowing, and there it was!

I absolutely love this color combo. Since I just received my first pack of Aqua Mist cardstock, I am totally smitten with it. I can't get enough of it. I already love, love, love Raspberry Fizz so the two together... ahhh, a match made in heaven!

I put my own spin on this card, I flipped the sketch around so the card stood tall. I used Petal Power, which is just fabulous. I love using it, and use it all the time! Yes, used Signature Greetings too, this is a must have set! I also added some bling to each flower, love that touch!

I am really loving the clean and simple look lately. Maybe because it comes easy to me rather than trying to be something in the crafty world that I'm not. Not sure yet, still pondering that one. I do know what my style is not... but what is it??

Clean and Simple

Well since I was in the top three last week I just had to play along this week! With this weeks challenge I decided to do something a little different... very clean and very simple. No inking the edges to make it look vintage, no using lots of different pp, nothing fussy just a sleek look! The red is so bold by itself I felt it didn't need anything else. Normally this isn't my type of style but I love the way it turned out!

For these fab flowers I used this tutorial. Are they not just the cutest!?!?

And that sentiment... yup it's Signature Greetings again by the amazing Dawn McVey. Can't get enough of it.

I really love this color combo, something I would have never tried myself. And the Aqua Mist cardstock also my new love. This is the first card I have made with it and I'm in love. So soft and pretty. Love you Aqua Mist!

I cant get enough of Cosmo Crickets Early Bird collection. Ahh, just love it. I also used Pure Poppy, which is a little bold for me, but that's what I love about it.

For this next card I toned it down just a bit. I used Aqua Mist, and more Early Bird. Sweet and soft!

I was really inspired by the paper piecing article in the spring issue of Paper Crafts magazine. Such great ideas by Betsy Veldman. One of her paper piecing techniques was to paper piece a background with blocks of pattern paper. So today I decided to play around with my PP a bit.

Notice that fabulous font... it is from Signature Greetings by the lovely Dawn McVey. The paper, oh yes, Cosmo Cricket. Oh how I love it!

Notice the base of my cards? They were cut using the new Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge. Love it! This cartridge has so many card base choices, and how convenient, you don't even have to cut, it does it all for you!

Dot Spot is my newest PTI stamp set and I just love it. I loved how Melissa Phillips used it on this card so I used that for my inspiration for these:

I stamped the largest dot spray in Sweet Blush ink then stamped the center in black. Very soft and pretty! I used Kraft and stamped Polka Dot Basics II in Smokey Shadow.

I liked the way this first card came out and since I had all the supplies out I decided to make another one in a different color scheme. I used Smokey Shadow cardstock and grey polka dot paper (source unknown). This one I stamped in Smokey Shadow ink and used the sentiment "sending a smile across the miles." I like the way these cards are very soft and whimsy!

Compose a Card Challenge!

I finally got a chance to play along with Becky Oehlers Compose a Card Challenge. I really loved this card idea, so simple, yet you can change it up in so many ways! This is my take on her challenge:

I really love this flower image from the 2009 anniversary set so I decided to use it on this card. I also used Background Basics: Petal Power, I find myself reaching for it over and over again. Just love it!

I almost never use black on cards so I decided that a sympathy sentiment would fit the card perfectly. The sentiments is also from the 2009 anniversary stamp.

I really enjoyed making this card, I think I will make a few more changing them up a bit. Thanks Becky for a great challenge!

Papertrey Paper Pads

I love Papertrey's pattern paper pads, such great patterns and you just can't beat the great price. I do find though that when I use these pads I end up I having scraps all over the place. So I wanted to find a solution to keep these scraps all together. I came up with a solution and thought I would show you all.

I found that legal size envelopes, with a little tweaking, were the perfect fit to the inside flap of the paper pads. I just cut a bit off each side of the envelope to fit the 8in flap of the pad.

Next, with my sew mini, I stitched each side of the envelope to close the gap when I cut it to fit.

I used my tombow to tape the envelope to the inside of the paper pad. It's that easy!

Now you have a nice, organized home to keep all your paper pad scraps together!

Scattered Showers trio

Hi-ya peeps! Happy Monday to you!. Today I made some cards for Betsy Veldmans challenge, paper piecing. I really love this technique because I am not a color- er. No way, no how. Copics, water color, chalk, markers, etc just not my thing. So when I saw Betsy challenge I knew it was just for me!

I decided to use one of my most favorite stamp sets; Scattered Showers. This stamp set is so versatile and super easy to use! I just love it.

Isn't that sentiment just the greatest and how about that paper? Yum, Cosmo Cricket makes the most fabulous paper. I could stare at it all day long.

I used two different scallop punches on the edges of the cards and I also used three different sentiments from Scattered Showers to make each card different from the rest.

Flower embellishments

Happy Valentines Day to you! Did you have a good one, did you spend it with the one you love?

Yesterdays challenge at Papertrey was to make flower embellishments and then incorporate them on a card. So today I decided to do just that. I used my Storybook cricut cartridge to cut out the scallop flowers and then stamped them with Polka Dot Basics, Text Style I and Petal Power. I also inked the edges with tea dye to give them a vintage feel. I just love how they turned out!

I decided to use the flower embellishments as a theme and make the cards similar so that I could use them as a set for a gift. Didn't they come out super cute?

I used a lot of Spring Moss. Cardstock, ribbon, ink and Pretty Pastels Spring Moss pattern. Love this color, so soft, ahhh. So simple and plain yet they still look pretty and elegant.

I didn't add any sentiments yet. Not sure what I want to use. This color combo makes me think spring, maybe Easter, Mothers Day, thank yous, birthday? Maybe one of each? I think I'll make a few more to go along with these.

I just have to say that sewing is my new found love! I bought this refurbished Janome Sew Mini and couldn't be more happier with it. It is quite easy to set up and quite easy to use. Just takes a little practice getting the stitching to go in a straight line, hee hee.

My first card is one that I CASED from the super fabulous, incredibly talented Betsy Veldman. Here is the card that I "card jacked" from her(scroll down a bit).

I changed it up a bit using different patterned paper and ribbon. I added some stitching around the outside of the card as well as in between the paper strips. Love how it turned out!

I really loved this card so I decided to make another one, switching up the sentiment, the ribbon color and the order of the pattern paper. Added some stitching, super cute.

My favorite Papertrey color is definitely Raspberry Fizz, I love it, so luscious! I could wallpaper my whole house in it! I love the card stock, the matching patterned paper, ink and ribbon. So I decided to break out my favorite stamp set, Take Note and make one of these fabulous notebooks.

I also used Text Style 1 in Smokey Shadow ink, another fave of mine!

These notebooks are so fun and super easy to make thanks to Nichole's downloadable template! There are just so many possibilities. Decorate a pen to match and just like that you have a little gift to give! Super fab!

PTI sketch

Well this is my second blog post and I'm super excited about it! Thank you all for your super sweet comments. I'm trying to learn all I can about blogging in general.

I am loving this sketch from Papertrey. Yesterdays challenge was a little out of my comfort zone so today I decided to use some of my fav papers by MM and the Noteworthy Collection.

I also used one of my favorite stamp sets, Blooming Button Bits. I find myself reaching for it over and over again. Just love it! The sentiment is from Everyday Button Bits, also one of my faves! I just curved the stamp on my block to give the words a wavy look. Super cute!

A lot of firsts... and a PTI challenge

Ok so this is my very first blog post ever and I'm very excited about it. I'm not really sure what I am doing but here goes. I participated in my very first challenge and it just so happens to be with PTI one of my favorite loves!

At first is was a very hard color combo for me, orange, rust, raspberry fizz, ripe avacado... Yikes! I do have to say, that after working with it a while I love how it turned out!
